Gurbhagat Singh, as an eminent Sikh scholar, has immensely contributed to the postmodern thought, culture and in particular to Sikh thought. Dr Singh’s most relevant contribution lies in translating Sri Guru Granth Sahib and in giving the world the Sikh alternative of Vismadic celebration of diverse and conflicting structures of the world. Through this volume Dr. Singh highlight the challenges of translation of this culture-specific sacred text into English language. The objective is to present the readers “Guru” word without the overload of the cultural, religious signified of the English language in order to fully present the significance o0f the Sikh signifier. The Sikh alternative of vismadic paradigm is his unique contribution to the world thought.
Making a revolutionary shift from the earlier understandings, Dr. Singh, while taking insights from multiple disciplines of linguistic language, hermeneutics, philosophy, physics and religion, unfold the renewed interpretation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. In these essays, he also envisages to construct the poetics of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
